Traditional Chinese pastries you can't get enough of - Walnut Crisp


Walnut Crisp is a traditional Chinese pastry, fragrant, crispy and delicious, and very popular. Walnuts have the effect of enhancing intelligence and nourishing the brain; they are not only delicious but also highly nutritious. They can be eaten raw, stir-fried, or made into pastries. So, if you have children who are studying or under work pressure, you might consider making some walnut crisps for them.

 

 


Ingredients

Low-gluten flour: 220g Egg: 1 Yihao liquid shortening : 100g

Granulated sugar: 78g Baking soda: 2g Walnuts: 75g Black sesame seeds: as needed

 

Instructions

1: Bake walnuts in the oven at 150°C (302°F) for 10 minutes.

2: Crush the baked walnuts with a rolling pin and set aside.

3: Yihao liquid shortening Mix with the egg until well combined.

4: Add granulated sugar and mix well.

5: Add the sifted low-gluten flour and baking soda, and mix well using a folding method.
6: Finally, add the crushed walnuts and mix well.

7: After mixing well, roll the dough into 25g balls, flatten them, brush with a layer of egg wash, and sprinkle with a little sesame seeds.

8: Place in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) and bake for about 18 minutes.

9: Bake until golden brown.
