Blended soy sauce made with modern technology will list various chemical additives on its label, such as monosodium glutamate, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, disodium succinate, sodium benzoate, sorbic acid, caramel color, sucralose, sodium saccharin, protein sugar, etc. Blended soy sauce, due to the addition of a large amount of preservatives and pigments, is of no benefit to the human body if consumed regularly. Therefore, it is best to buy brewed soy sauce.
Step 2: Check the foam.
Not all soy sauces that claim to be "brewed soy sauce" are good soy sauce. To judge the quality of soy sauce, gently shake the soy sauce bottle and observe the foam. Brewed soy sauce has relatively uniform foam that does not dissipate easily. Blended soy sauce produces foam of varying sizes, and when you stop shaking the bottle, the foam will dissipate quickly. Hair-containing soy sauce also belongs to blended soy sauce, so if the ingredient list says "brewed soy sauce," but the foam indicates "blended soy sauce," be careful.
Step 3: Check the bottle wall.
Making hair-containing soy sauce requires adding a large amount of pigments and thickeners, so we can identify them through a simple method. Tilt or invert the soy sauce bottle, then place the bottle upright. If it is hair-containing soy sauce, it will stick to the bottle wall, leaving a black stain that is difficult to clean for a long time. Don't buy such soy sauce.
By mastering these three steps, you can basically avoid mistakenly buying hair-containing soy sauce from unscrupulous manufacturers.
